Remove a Teacher Who Has Left My School

When a teachers resign, retire or accept a call, removing them is not a simple process of deleting.

Teachers, and other staff members, leave schools for a variety of reasons. However, they never leave PowerSchool. Deleting a teacher would create database problems with historical grades and sections.  

The timing for this is important.

  • For elementary schools that copy schedules from year to year, it's probably a good idea to wait until the End of Year rollover process has been completed and the schedule has been copied to begin the new year.  You can just exchange the new teacher for the teacher who left in the sections and not create new sections.  
  • For schools that create new sections every year or use PowerScheduler, you can follow the procedure below at the end of the school year after grades have been stored.  
  • If a teacher leaves during the year, exchange the new teacher's name with the teacher leaving and then follow the procedure below.

Procedure for Removing a Teacher from your Rosters in PowerSchool

  1. On the start page, choose Staff from the search options and select the teacher.
  2. On the left menu, click Schedule > Schedule Setup. On the Staff Scheduling Preferences page, clear the Schedule this teacher box, if necessary, and click Submit.
  3. On the left menu, click Staff Profile > Edit Admin Login. Set Log in to administrative portion of PowerSchool? to No and select No Longer Here from the Status drop menu and click Submit.
